Large 26,4 inches suspended lamp designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. This iconic "Viscontea" pendant light was manufactured by Flos, in Italy in 1960s.
Steel frame structure with a "cocoon" elastic resin to create the shade diffuser. Resin was applied to the frame with spraying technique.
"During the postwar years a new kind of self-skinning spray-on plastic known as "Cocoon" was developed in the United States for the mothballing of naval vessels. This led to Castiglioni brothers designing their series of Cocoon lights, produced by Flos."
